Chris Bessler
Assistant Coach - 10th Season

Chris Bessler joined the Tiger staff in February 2007 and serves as the defensive coordinator and inside linebacker coach.  Bessler graduated from Doane in 1995.  He was a three-sport athlete, participating in football, track and baseball.  He was named NIAC all-conference as a linebacker.

Bessler got his start in coaching as a student coach at Doane.  After graduation, he was named head coach at Cozad High School and stayed there until 2000.  Chris went on to coach at Northern State (S.D.) while earning his Master’s Degree in Education and then as a defensive line coach at Augustana College (Ill.).  He resides in Crete with his wife, Deborah, and their four children, Cale, Reagan, Logan & Macey.


Mike Dixon
Assistant Coach - 10th Season


Michael Dixon joined the Tiger coaching staff in 2007. He serves as the Tiger’s wide receivers coach.  Dixon’s previous coaching experience came as the wide receivers and defensive backs coach at Lincoln Northeast High School.  He also served as the head coach for the Lincoln Capitals in 2006 and as an intern of football operations from 2004-05.  Dixon is a graduate of Greenville College.  

Michael joined Doane College as a Safety Administrator from August 2008-14.  In August 2014 he moved into the Doane Admission Office as a counselor.  He lives in Crete  with his wife, Amy.


Josh Littrell
Assistant Coach - 4th Season


Josh Littrell joined the Tiger coaching staff in 2013.  In January 2014 he was promoted of Offensive Coordinator for the Tigers.  He joins the Tigers from Earl Warren High School in Texas where he was the Offensive Coordinator.  Littrell has been coaching since 2000 when he started at Emporia State University as a student coach.

He has also had coaching stops at Southern Illinois University and Hutchinson Community College along with Del Rio High School in Texas.  Littrell has coached seven players who went on to play NCAA Division I football.  His collegiate playing days started at Garden City Community College and concluded at Emporia State.

Josh and his wife, Renae (Doane softball coach), have two boys, Cooper and Max.


Brain Luera
Assistant Coach - 6th Season


Brian Luera joined the Tiger coaching staff in 2011. Luera played for the Tigers from 2007-10 as a defensive back. He finished his career with four interceptions and 94 total tackles.


 


Bruce Reed
Assistant Coach - 4th Season


Bruce Reed joined the Tiger staff in 2013.  He brings a wealth of coaching experience to Doane from the high school level.  Prior to joining the Tiger staff, he served as an assistant coach at Millard North High School where the Mustangs won four state championships.  He served as Head Coach at Lincoln Northeast from 1986-93.

Reed was a four-year starter in college at Nebraska Wesleyan where he earned all-conference honors on three occasions.  He also played baseball and was all-conference all four years at first base.

He and his wife, Mindy, have three children, Stephanie, Walter and Molly.  They also have one grand child, Riley.


Kevin Roehrich
Assistant Coach - 4th Season


Coach Roehrich joined the Tiger coaching staff in Fall 2013 after playing four years for the Tigers and earning all-conference honors.
 

 


Luke Olson
Assistant Coach - 3rd Season


Luke Olson joined the Tiger coaching staff in Spring 2014 and serves as the defensive backs coach.  He came to Doane from the University of Minnesota where he was a recruiting assistant and helped coach the defensive backs and special teams for the Gophers.  Olson got his start in coaching at Wayzata High School (Minn.) where he coached the linebackers.  He was a part of state championship teams at Wayzata as both a player and a coach.


Dennis McElravy
Manager - 51st Season

Dennis McElravy has been taking care of the Tigers as an equipment manager for several decades. He resides in Crete with his wife, Marilyn - who helped start the Tiger post-game gathering after home games. They have three children and nine grand-children.
